On Saturday, May 9th, I participated in the Madera County Arts Council’s Un-Gala For the Arts. Normally, we hold the Gala at a swanky locale to celebrate all the Madera County Arts Council does for the community and to raise money to fund their many programs.
The event was held virtually this year, and I was honored to be an integral part of the production.
The show was hosted by KMJ ‘s Matt Otstot and featured interviews with MCAC Executive Director Kim Kocher, Madera County Supervisor Rob Poythress, Artist/Gallery Owner Jon Bock, and MCAC Board President Marcheta Williams.
There were live performances and a great montage of videos sent in by the community. Check it out!
I painted live during the performance, and the following is a picture of the finished piece. My goal for the artwork is to spread positivity during this difficult time. I’m calling it “Here Comes The Sun” as I heard the Beatles tune in my head while painting.
I’m donating a percentage of the sale of this piece (and other works) to help support the arts in Madera County. Click here to see what’s currently available.
Madera County is opening up soon. Stop by the Circle Gallery and see my Sock Monkey Town Exhibit. My Monkey Made of Sockies paintings are filling the gallery with good vibes! The exhibit has been extended through August 30th.
And last but certainly not least, very special thanks to Jim Kocher, Cassandra Reyes, David Opfergelt, Alicia Buenrostro, and the MCAC Board of Directors for their tremendous support. You guys rock!
