So many times I hear folks list the reasons they are not creating.
They don’t have the perfect studio, or the perfect subject. The feel they need different paint brushes or maybe another kind of paint. If they only had the time…
When I decided to produce a TV show on how to paint, I went to an orientation class at the local cable access center. In attendance were about 10 people all with various levels of expertise in the medium. Me, I had no experience whatsoever. I just wanted to make a show. I was so green I didn’t even know what I didn’t know. I was scared and nervous and definitely did not think I was ready. But thanks to much encouragement from the staff, I began to produce my series.
A year later, one of the members of my orientation class came by the studio and she noticed a stack of 10 VCR tapes on the shelf. (Yeah it was that long ago) So here we are are, a year later. I had ten shows in the can, and she was still waiting for conditions to be right so that she could start her first one.
Conditions will seldom be perfect.
Start today.
From wherever you are, with whatever you have.
As for time, well, there’s always enough time…make it. You are ready now.
One final note, here’s one of my favorite quotes from Julia Cameron,
“But do you know how old I will be by the time I learn to really play the piano/act/paint/write a decent play?”
Yes . . . the same age you will be if you don’t.”
Let that sink in 🙂
So what are you waiting for? Go for it, and please post pics below!
