Lunch at Jardine’s

posted in: Art

This month’s challenge from my Art Inspiration Group was to create an art piece using a set palette. I chose this warm palette as the colors made me happy. (By the way, I can’t think of a better reason to choose colors!)

I intended to create a new painting but realized I already had one in progress that matched the swatch, so I glazed over the piece with pthalo yellow-green to warm it up and proceeded from there.

The most difficult part of the challenge was to stick to the palette. Several times, I was tempted to add bits of blue. But I stuck to the challenge pallet and am glad I did.

The result is a vibrant display of red and orange geraniums nestled in a terracotta pot, set against a warm, muted background. The lush greenery complements the vivid blooms, creating a harmonious balance. I feel grounded and at peace when I encounter this piece.

The painting is from a reference photo I took during a lunch at Jardines in San Juan Bautista, CA. The great company, fabulous food, and experience warmed my heart, and so did this painting!
