Art and Chocolate

Every year, there’s something sweet about Rocklin’s Art Studio Trek, and I’m not just talking about the chocolate. As a working artist (and full-time caregiver), much of my creative life happens quietly in the studio. Early mornings. Palette knife in hand. Paint moving across the canvas while the rest of the world sleeps. Sharing that work beyond my walls takes intention — and courage. That’s why participating in the tour matters so much to me.

The Rocklin Art & Chocolate Studio Trek is more than an event. It’s an invitation. An invitation to step inside local studios, meet the artists, and experience the heart behind the work. It’s a chance to see the layers, the textures, the risks, and the joy up close. For me personally, it’s healthy to get out, to have conversations about creativity, and to connect face-to-face with the community that supports local art.

Art can sometimes feel solitary. But events like this remind me that creativity is also communal. When you visit, you’re not just browsing paintings — you’re encouraging artists to keep going. You’re saying yes to original work. Yes to handmade. Yes to imagination.

And yes… there will be chocolate.

If you’ve never attended, this is the perfect year to come explore. Meet the Rocklin artists. Wander from studio to studio. Ask questions. Taste something sweet. Maybe even fall in love with a piece that speaks to you.I’ll be showing at Barbara Ruhkala’s home studio, and I can’t wait to connect with you — and to see what conversations unfold.
