She Became Light
A self-portrait
I was determined to paint myself free, and I did!
This self-portrait was born from a season of carrying more than my spirit was ever meant to hold. As I painted, I wasn’t trying to capture my physical likeness—I was witnessing my release. Each stroke became an act of letting go until stress dissolved into color and my spirit emerged, radiant and free. The drops and splatters of paint woven throughout the painting remind me of a dog emerging from a bath and shaking.
The first few statements were very dark.

The middle statements turned fiery, and the final statement became peaceful.
Ahhhhh…

She Became Light is a reminder that healing isn’t about escaping the darkness; it’s about remembering the light that has always lived within us. It’s also a reminder that no matter what’s going on in my life, I must create.
