The Road to Acceptance

The Road to Acceptance

The road to acceptance is rarely straight. Not for me anyway.

It’s messy.

Confusing.

Beautiful.

Stressful.

Challenging.

It’s all over the place! And so is this work.

Some moments obscure the way forward, while others offer a glimpse of light that reminds me to keep going.

This painting is about the winding, imperfect path of learning to embrace what is, rather than wishing it were different.

That being said, I’ll admit I go back and forth between

Oh Hell to the No!

and

It is what it is.

The colorful flowers, tangled growth, patches of shadow, and bursts of light are reminders that even in the mess, there can be beauty.

I don’t have to know exactly where the road leads. Sometimes, acceptance means taking the next step and or stopping to truly appreciate all that is good.

Right here.

Right now.
