I recently had the wonderful opportunity to create a painting for patrons Rick and Robin Brown. They wanted a scene from Almaden Quicksilver Park, a favorite park from my childhood. The park holds a special place in my heart, as it was my go-to place when I needed to get away from it all, and it holds a special place in their hears as well. How cool is that!?
Rick and Robin gave me a general idea of what they were looking for but left the details to me. I was completely inspired and created four pieces centered around an oak tree near the park’s entrance.
Quicksilver Spring depicts a vibrant tree standing prominently in a colorful field, surrounded by vivid wildflowers and lush grasses. In the background, soft, hazy shapes hint at a distant landscape under a serene sky. Love and quiet beauty leap off the piece and hug you.
Mockingbird Hill reflects a cooler-toned version of the oak tree. It stands in the middle of a colorful field, surrounded by various hues of green, purple, and yellow under a bright blue sky. The scene evokes a sense of tranquility and natural beauty.
Mercury Autumn captures the vibrant colors of the park during the peak of autumn. I vividly remember the trees adorned in red, orange, and gold hues, creating a breathtaking tapestry of fall foliage. The play of light and shadow among the trees brought a sense of warmth and comfort that I aimed to convey in this piece.
Almaden Summer delves into the nostalgia of hiking around the park. I can still recall the joy and laughter shared with friends as we hiked, and it brings back the sense of carefree happiness and boundless energy that I experienced in my teen years.
As of this minute, three of the originals are available. Please contact me if interested. Additionally, all are available as prints, pillow, puzzles and more! Click on each photo to discover the possibilities.
Creating this series of paintings has been a deeply personal and fulfilling experience for me. It allowed me to reconnect with cherished memories and bring them to life. I am grateful for the opportunity to share these paintings with my patron and love that they, too, find joy and nostalgia in the scenes of my favorite childhood park.
