Our Terms and Conditions – Please Read Carefully

Sock Monkey Paintings By Shannon Grissom

General Submission Guidelines

We invite submissions that illuminate the creative experience. Submissions may take the form of writing, multimedia, works of art, or podcasts.
Contributors can be from anywhere in the world, but all submissions must be in English for the time being.

Submissions do not have to cover just one subject; however, there should be an umbrella theme that provides unity to the posts. Posts, where users detail their day-to-day lives, should be written to have broad appeal.

Titles should be short and speak directly to the content of your piece. Lead paragraphs should be strong and to the point — do not bury your leads.

Posts in excess of 800 words must be strong enough to retain readers’ interest or will be subject to editing or rejected outright.

Shannon Grissom retains the right at its sole discretion to reject submissions.

Images

We encourage you to submit photos or illustrations with your submissions. Please be sure they are original works, Creative Commons, or that you have written permission from the artist to use the works. Please provide the copyright details to us, including a link to the source, as we will be providing credits for everything we publish. We reserve the right to use different images. Please Note: Submissions send in without images will take longer to publish.

You must supply a written component describing the art you are submitting.

You can submit up to 3 images.

Images can be up to 1500KB (1.5MB). If they are larger the system won’t take them.

Please be sure to enter a title in the Title Field under each image you submit. This is what the search engines will index and what the hover text will read.
Better yet, rename the images before uploading. For example: If the image is DSCG1234.JPG, rename it to “The Mist.jpg”  – or – “The Mist By Jane Smith.jpg”
By accepting the terms and conditions, you confirm you are the author and copyright holder of the submitted images and verbiage and you have the right to distribute them for publication. Once submitted, lifeasahuman.com will have the right to publish your submission in perpetuity in any form we choose on any of our web properties. For example, we may wish to use your work to illustrate a lifeasahuman.com article. In each and every case, we will ensure proper attribution of your work and a link to your website or blog. We will NOT print your work or use it in any other way.

Respect for Human Rights

We do not accept submissions that contain adult content, and/or content that is overtly commercial, racist, sexist or slanderous. We retain the right to reject content that contains language we consider abusive.

Being Original

Plagiarism is never o.k. Except for properly referenced quotations, all writing must be in your own words.

Editing, Spelling & Grammar

While we do provide ‘copy-editing’, we do not provide ‘content editing’. Please edit your work and proofread it carefully before submitting it. Submissions that do not read well or are full of errors will not be accepted.

Copyright

You retain copyright to both the images and the written component and can reproduce the image anywhere at any time, but the written component is provided to shannongrissom.com on a 30-day exclusive.

Please contact us if you have any questions at all.

Cheers,

Shannon Grissom
