Have you worked in a series?
If not, try it! Working in a series gives back to you in many ways. You can create a series based on subject, theme, color, mood and more! The possibilities are endless.
Benefits of Working in a series:
-It helps you become intimate with the theme or subject as you explore things on a deep level
-It gives you Street Cred and proves you are not just a one-hit-wonder
-Creates a cohesive body of work
-Gives you direction and purpose
-Keeps you focused and disciplined
-Results in a body of work for a solo exhibit, and a story to tell
-You’ve got a built-in target market of folks who are interested in your subject
Things to Consider:
-Document your journey-blog or post stories on social media
-Unify the size and type of painting surface as much as possible
-Unify the medium
-Keep framing consistent
-Do at least 12. Yep. At least 12 🙂
-Pitch the show to galleries as you work. Exhibits are scheduled months in advance, so by the time the galleries have openings, you’ll have completed your series.
