Taking the Fork in the Road

“We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.”

Joseph Campbell

I was working on images for another oracle card deck when I was compelled to switch gears and create 3-dimensional sock creatures.

Compelled!

So I put the oracle deck paintings on hold and created an entire family of snow people, and a gaggle of sock animals. As I sewed, each character emerged and began to share their story. (I will not yet relate their stories, but I will tell you that they always make me smile and sometimes laugh out loud.)

Then I posed the models so I could paint their portraits.  As I sketched and painted even more information was given to me!

Now I’m the process of sewing, painting, writing, and well, cracking myself up, all day long! If you would have told me a few months ago I’d be taking this journey, I would have thought your biscuits were not done.

Where am I going with this? I see a series of delightful picture books and licensed merchandise emerging from this work. I’m so grateful I let go of what I thought I should be doing and moved towards what was waiting for me.

Note:  Folks have been inquiring about purchasing the models. At present they are not for sale. They are models for my other creative work.

As Yogi Berra said, “When you come to the fork in the road, take it.”
